Summary This position is located in the Physical Therapy Section in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at the NIH Clinical Center. The Physical Therapy team provides advanced evaluation and management of patients who are acutely or chronically ill with musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, oncology and genetics disorders. Goals include restoration or maintenance of sensory and motor abilities to prevent, reverse, or minimize functional limitations/disabilities. You are strongly encouraged to submit a copy of your transcripts. Licensure Requirement: Physical Therapist. Qualifications To qualify for a Supervisory Physical Therapist, GS-0633 you must: A. Possess a graduate or higher level degree that included: A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. AND B. Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Licensure Requirement: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). In addition, in order to qualify for a Supervisory Physical Therapist at the GS-13 level, you must have One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Leading and mentoring physical therapists and health care trainees to ensure quality of physical therapy services; developing physical therapy assessments and programs that adhere to physical therapy guidelines for patients in clinical research programs; collaborating with physical therapists and other medical staff in the design and evaluation of physical therapy research projects; evaluating physical therapy techniques and providing recommendations to ensure compliance with clinical care and clinical research standards; and providing direct patient evaluation and treatment to biomedical research patients.
