Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at Lower Granite Natural Resources Office, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and situated in Clarkston, Washington. The Natural Resources Office maintains and oversees multiple recreation sites and resources.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must have a valid state issued driver's license.
- A pre-employment drug test is required.
- A pre-employment physical is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers boat operator license within 12 months after initial appointment.
- Position may require working weekends and holidays.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires the ability to lift heavy objects, 90 lbs, specific to the position.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have performed the majority of the following maintenance worker tasks under normal supervision: painting, carpentry, repairing irrigation systems, plumbing repairs, and welding. I have full level skills in operating all associated tools and equipment related to the sub journeyman level skills. I have experience operating and maintaining forklifts, backhoes and tractor-trailers. I have performed daily operation checks of this equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Works at benches or while material is on supports. This requires considerable standing, stooping, bending, reaching and climbing of ladders. The work normally requires lifting up to 90 pounds. Must drive or operate equipment which requires sustained sitting with vibration or jostling. Ability to properly wear personal protective equipment for high ambient noise, heat, cold or fumes is required.
- Working Conditions: Though some work is done indoors, work is normally done outdoors with exposure to wide variations in weather and temperatures. The incumbent is exposed to traffic hazards high ambient noise, heat, cold or fumes while driving on both improved and unimproved roads. May work in cramped quarters and in, over, and near water. May occasionally make repairs in areas where fumes are present. Painting and other work requires the use of eye and respiratory protection devices. There may be exposure to insect, snake and spider bites. The incumbents may be exposed to injury from hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment, flying splinters, airborne particles, pesticides, and material handling.
