Summary You will serve as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR in the Logistics Division, Support Branch, Base Motor Pool of Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. You will operate passenger & school buses transporting school-aged children to and from Elementary & Secondary schools on MCB Quantico, as well as school sponsored events and activities in the Washington, DC region. This is a seasonal, part-time position. You must possess and maintain a Class "B" (or higher) CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements and must provide a copy of your CDL with your application. You must obtain a U.S. Government Vehicle Operator's Permit within a period pending availability of testing. You must complete all assigned training and obtain and maintain all required certifications. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random drug testing. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You must have normal hearing with or without corrective devices. This position requires the ability to lift, up to 45 lbs., and perform moderate amount of pushing, walking, standing, crawling, kneeling, repeated bending, and climbing. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. You must be willing and able to work Seasonal/Part-time. See Additional Information Section of this announcement for details of work schedule. You will be required to pass an American Red Cross accredited CPR training course within a period pending availability of training administered by the employer. This position may require you to perform rotating shift work. See the "Additional Information" section of this announcement for more requirements and restrictions. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a Motor Vehicle Operator as demonstrated by experience, working under normal supervision, operating School Buses, over public roads; overseeing the loading, and unloading of passengers, handling the controls for starting, stopping, backing, shifting and driving the vehicle; judging overhead and side clearances, turning radius, and braking distance from the preceding vehicle; following prescribed routes; maintaining route schedules; understanding and applying safety rules and regulations, using defensive driving techniques; conducting pre and post trip vehicle inspections; completing trip tickets and accident reports (as needed); notifying supervisors or dispatchers if disturbances prevent the safe operation of the bus. and possession of a Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. Additional information This is a Part-Time Seasonal job driving school buses. You work 30 hours a week working a split shift to cover the morning (0630-0930 M-F) and the afternoon (1330-1630 M-F) school routes. You will be in a unpaid status for the Summer (mid-June to mid-August), Winter (two weeks in December), spring (one week in April or March) school breaks. You cannot have been convicted of a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicating 'liquors or drugs, within the last five years. You cannot have been convicted of a Charge of refusing to take a blood or breath test, within the last 12 months. You cannot have been convicted of a felony or, within the preceding 12 months. You cannot have been convicted of two or more moving traffic violations in any state, or has not accumulated 8 or more demerit points from any military base traffic court, within the last 12 months.
