Job Description
About SIRUM
SIRUM is reimagining the future of US healthcare by connecting people with surplus medications at an affordable cost. Our goal is to leverage the ~$11B of surplus that goes to waste every year to improve health equity for the 50M adults in the US who can’t afford their prescriptions. Families’ health comes first and everyone deserves the medications they need to stay healthy. We deliver on this promise by ensuring medicine prices are low, stable, and transparent!
SIRUM is a fast-growing, non-profit, for-impact startup at the intersection of health tech + social enterprise. Founded at Stanford University and backed by Y Combinator, our platform moves~$1M worth of medications every week, sourced from hundreds of medicine donors across dozens of states. Join us in building a national solution to the drug pricing epidemic that has been featured on The TED Mainstage, The New York Times, and Forbes.

About the Role
As an undergraduate summer fellow at SIRUM, you’ll spend 10 weeks (June 16-August 22, 2025) working directly with leadership and playing a critical role in our fast-growing social enterprise. This unique opportunity offers exposure to all aspects of the organization—impact, operations, policy, marketing, and development—while driving initiatives that intersect with health technology, community health, and government. From building partnerships and managing special projects to expanding our digital presence, you’ll analyze, strategize, and project manage to make a meaningful impact nationwide.
Depending on your interests and skill set, as a summer fellow you will work on projects from one or more of the core SIRUM teams: Donor, Policy, Recipient, Impact, and Engineering.
In this role, you will be responsible for…
- Building and expanding partnerships: Develop strategies to engage and better serve healthcare providers and community organizations, such as social services, food banks, and local government agencies, to expand the reach of surplus medicine redistribution across various states.
- Conducting outreach and market research: Manage outreach efforts to diverse healthcare providers, target specific medical specialties, and explore new verticals for community partnerships, leveraging research and relationship management.
- Managing special projects: Lead high-impact initiatives, such as distributing emergency contraceptives or piloting safe redistribution methods for cold-storage medications, ensuring successful implementation and evaluation.Â
- Driving organizational growth: Contribute to strategic initiatives across marketing, operations, policy, and other functions, collaborating with co-founders to support SIRUM’s mission.
- Enhancing SIRUM’s digital presence: Design and implement strategies, such as social media campaigns, to grow SIRUM's digital presence and engage broader audiences.Â
We’re excited about you because…
- You’re mission-driven: You look forward to using your skills to help individuals and families get the medicine they need.
- You’re passionate about a future in healthcare: Whether you’re aiming to become a healthcare provider, work in public health or health policy, you have some hands-on clinical experience and understanding of how healthcare operates to inform building relationships with healthcare organizations and navigate clinical workflows effectively.
- You’re a detail-oriented problem solver: You enjoy digging into the complexity and nuances of problems to find a solution.Â
- You’re a self-starter with a sharp eye for detail: You know how to organize yourself and others, keeping projects on track while staying focused on the finer points.
- You’re resourceful and innovative: You find ways to streamline your work but aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to get the job done.
Requirements

- Fellows are required to work 3 days in-person at SIRUM’s Palo Alto, CA office and 2 days remote for the duration of the 10-week fellowship, June 16-August 22, 2025.Â
- COVID-19 vaccination is required.
Timeline
