The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the Job Elements. The screen out element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. This experience may include: 1) tuning up and maintaining vehicles and heavy equipment and troubleshooting problems in building systems; 2) operating heavy equipment to accomplish outdoor work duties in standard field conditions and in situations without complicating factors; and 3) performing general maintenance tasks on buildings or facilities that include work in the welding, electrical, plumbing, carpentry or other trades. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
