Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driverβs license.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life.
Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques.
Examples of specialized experience may include: Prohibiting unauthorized personnel from accessing secured areas to maintain security. Allowing entrance to persons and vehicles with proper authorizations. Monitoring and authorizing the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Confirming facilities, locks, alarms, fences, gates, or other barriers are closed/locked or open/unlocked depending on the time of day and the conditions that apply. Monitoring alarms for the safety of personnel, equipment, and facilities. Assessing visitor needs to make recommendations based on visitor input.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Education
You may qualify on the basis of education if you have successfully completed at least two (2) full academic years of education above high school.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (https://www.ed.gov/). Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Additional information
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
This position requires rotating shift work.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
Several vacancies may be filled.
