Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Answering general inquiries on historical properties within the collection; 2) Providing support for museum events of public and non-public nature; 3) Assisting in monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure artifacts are safe; and 4) Performing simple tour guide duties and providing information to visitors.
GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Providing technical or general information to visitors about the museum and its collections; 2) Coordinating public and non-public program special events in the museum; 3) Monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure that the artifacts are safe and accounted for; and 4) Supporting management with historical collections and the facility.

Education
GS-06 & GS-07:
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successfully completed one full year of related graduate level education including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.
OR
Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in a related field of study including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled.
OR
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
