Job Description

Summary You will serve as a Museum Technician (History) in the Museum Systems Operations Division of NATIONAL MUSEUM. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Qualifications GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Answering general inquiries on historical properties within the collection; 2) Providing support for museum events of public and non-public nature; 3) Assisting in monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure artifacts are safe; and 4) Performing simple tour guide duties and providing information to visitors. GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following: 1) Providing technical or general information to visitors about the museum and its collections; 2) Coordinating public and non-public program special events in the museum; 3) Monitoring the exhibit areas to ensure that the artifacts are safe and accounted for; and 4) Supporting management with historical collections and the facility. OR Successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement in a related field of study including art, history, museum studies, scientific subjects, or other courses related to the position to be filled. OR A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
