This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
This position requires a valid state driverβs license.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE WORKER (MVO ~ without more than normal supervision. work involved in the minor repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation, and servicing of a variety of industrial and domestic heating and air-conditioning systems (to include chillers, air handling units, equipped with pneumatic and electronic controls, and ventilating systems) at the Journeyman-level and be able to solder, braze, and recharge various types of air condition and refrigeration systems. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.???????
Physical Effort: Employee frequently works from stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, ben kneel, climb, stretch and work in awkward and cramped positions when working in hard-to-reach or confined spaces. Frequently handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds and over 45 pounds with assistance. May be required to exert very heavy physical effort, lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds (23 kilograms); operating p equipment and tools.
Working Conditions: Employee works both inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather, in hard to reach places, and in areas that are noisy, dirty, greasy, smoky, exposed to fumes, heat, flying sparks, the glare of torches and heated materials; possibility of eye injury, electric shock, broken bones and the chance of cuts when working with sharp objects. There may be discomfort when wearing protective clothing, safety shoes, gloves and flash shield or eye goggles and other equipment as required. Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment
