Summary

You will serve as a Lead Police Officer at the GG-09 grade level responsible for performing and leading a full range of police operation duties to protect facilities, perimeters, materials, equipment, personnel and information. This position is located in Suitland, MD.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS Trial Period.
  • This position may require a Polygraph Examination.
  • Must pass pre-hire, initial, and annual medical, physical, and agility testing and requirements as directed by the command.
  • Must pass annual CPR/first aid certification course and use of force training.
  • Must be mentally stable, have color vision, and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Duties include prolonged standing, walking, and light lifting.
  • Must maintain a license to operate a motor vehicle on the installation and pass the emergency vehicle operator's course.
  • Must be physically able and skilled in handling of small arms to qualify with pistol, shotgun, and rifle annually.
  • Shift work required for this position (Day shift, Evening shift, and Midnight shift)
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of all emergency operations or the availability of emergency-essential systems
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as:
  1. Monitoring and patrolling perimeters (e.g., on foot or motor vehicle) to prevent unauthorized access.
  2. Identifying traffic or personnel by performing access control duties (e.g. inspect identification cards, badges, and vehicle decals).
  3. Apprehending or detaining suspects violating laws and regulations.
  4. Conducting criminal and security investigations in accordance with Federal and State laws and applicable regulations.

Federal Law Enforcement Training Program:
Must be a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program or upon appointment to the position within the time period established by the agency, successfully complete the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program.

You will be required to sign a Continuing Service Agreement (CSA) prior to completion of the required Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program.

Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy. Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntarily complete the length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training.

PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST (PAT):
Qualified applicants must pass a pre-hire physical agility test (PAT) and are required to pass the physical agility test (PAT) annually. This test will be used to screen qualified applicants for entry-level Police Officer positions. All Police Officers will be required to meet the following minimum physical agility test standards pre-hire and annually:

  • Run 1.5 miles in 17:30 minutes
  • Execute 19 push-ups in two minutes
Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires at command discretion.

All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601.

This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
