Summary The Air University Commander and President seeks a dynamic Principal Representative to the Commander. This key leader drives professional military education, continuing education, doctrine development, lessons learned, and educational technology initiatives for the Department of the Air Force. The role serves as Air University's primary representative to the Air Force, as well as to joint, multinational, and interagency education partners. Position requires random drug testing. This job is being filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive civil service. This is an Administratively Determined position in the excepted service. Incumbent may be required to travel by commercial or military conveyance to perform temporary duty. This is a Mission Key and Mission Essential position Qualifications In-depth understanding of senior headquarters staff functions, operational planning, the budget process, and the Department of Defense's education and training mission. Proven experience leading functional staff, operations, planning, policy development, and the budget process within a senior headquarters or combatant command. Expertise in applying management principles, including planning, programming, budgeting, and execution, while organizing, directing, and evaluating institutional processes and performance. Demonstrated success in leadership, team-building, managing change, developing resources, and fostering collaboration in a diverse, complex, and evolving environment. Extensive executive-level experience in large, diverse organizations, particularly within the IT sector, is highly desired. Education A master's degree in a relevant field of study, such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Additional information The position will be an initial three-year appointment with a one-year probationary period, with the potential for continued reappointment for additional 1-5 year terms.
