Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position meets the criteria for random drug testing under the Department of Army Drug-Free Workplace Program as supplemented by USACE ER 690-1-1218. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019, Condition of Employment. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain all Corps of Engineers licenses associated with this position. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)to perform duties of position issued by the state of residence. Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment. Heavy physical lifting is required of this position. Incumbent must be able to lift objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds and up with assistance. Incumbent must meet the physical requirements for this position. Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of up to 25% is required in the performance of duties. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the following common duties: measure, cut and replace wood boards and decking; replace minor plumbing fixtures such as leaky faucets; perform minor masonry work laying concrete blocks; paint surfaces with brush and roller; perform minor maintenance of project hand tools and heavy equipment such as changing filters and oils and troubleshooting mechanical problems; and perform a variety of ground maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming and shoveling snow. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Incumbent must be able to perform all physical requirements of this position as identified in the position description. Duties include but are not limited to climbing ladders and steep stairways and working on steep and uneven ground. Incumbent must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds unassisted or up to 100 lbs. with the assistance of one other person. Tasks requiring the ability to lift50 pounds while working alone include but are not limited to lifting and carrying a five gallon can of kerosene, lifting and carrying a 50-pound bag of wildlife seed, lifting and carrying a 5 gallon can of paint, cleaning liquid or hydraulic oil. Tasks requiring the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with the assistance of one other person include but are not limited to moving furniture and lifting 80 lb. bags of cement. Working Conditions: Incumbent works in a variety of conditions. Work is completed on but not limited to scaffolding,high ladders or rooftops subject to dangers such as but not limited to falling, exposed to possibilityof burns, cuts and bruises, broken bones or infections. Incumbent may work in inclement weatherto perform duties including but not limited to surveillance of project, various inspections, boundarymarking, special events, and emergency situations (respond to public accidents, drownings, etc.).Incumbent must be capable or working in conditions of dust, welding fumes, paint vapors andsandblast particles utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment for those conditions whichmay be heavy and uncomfortable. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
