Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years old and have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school. A minimum of one year of experience as a cook to include demonstrated ability to lead and supervise subordinate staff. Must have experience in preparing a large number of servings (100 to 200) in a timely manner at dining facilities or equivalent. Knowledge of automated/electronic food ordering is highly desirable. Must be able to accommodate non-standard hours of duty to include nights and weekends. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, walking, standing, bending, and crouching for the major part of the shift. Must be able to obtain and maintain a health card. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under the age of 18. Must be able to complete training in First Aid and CPR within six months of employment. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid SOFA drivers' license. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Experience and ability to prepare and cook food items in a timely manner according to the menu plan and verbal instruction. Possesses cooking techniques and ability to adapt the techniques to a variety of kitchen equipment to include an industrial type electric stove/oven. Experience and ability to supervise, train, and assign work to other kitchen workers. Must have a strong command of English to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
