Situated in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg, along
Florida’s Gulf Coast, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg is a comprehensive emergency, medical, and
surgical acute-care facility, serving the residents of the region for more than 110 years. Bayfront
Health has been part of the Orlando Health organization since October 2020.

Petersburg is a 480-bed tertiary care center and the only Level II Adult Trauma Center in Pinellas
County. With advanced technology and expertise in numerous specialties, including cardiovascular,
neuroscience, obstetrics, digestive health, orthopedics, surgery, emergency and trauma, and acute
rehabilitation, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care. The
hospital holds DHV-GL certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Joint Commission
certification in hip and knee joint replacement. A 38-bed neurosciences unit has a dedicated
neurology team with subspecialty expertise in stroke, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease. Bayfront
Health has been accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) as a Level 4 adult
epilepsy center. This accreditation is reserved for centers providing the most complex forms of
intensive neurodiagnostic monitoring, as well as more extensive medical, neuropsychological, and
psychosocial treatment. Bayfront Health Baby Place offers full obstetrical care and, in partnership
with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, is a state-certified Level III Regional Perinatal
Intensive Care Center (RPICC) — one of only 13 in Florida.

Responsibilities
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia and
anesthesia-related care under the direction of an attending anesthesiologist in the operating room
and satellite areas.
Essential Functions
Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and
evaluation.
Performs pre-anesthetic assessment before each procedure as supervised or directed by
the attending anesthesiologist.
Formulates a patient-specific anesthetic plan of care in
collaboration with the attending anesthesiologist.
Determines, prepares, and ensures necessary
medications, equipment, and adjunct therapies for the administration of anesthetics.
Initiates plan
of anesthesia care (general, regional, monitored anesthesia care) under the supervision or direction
of attending anesthesiologist.
Prepares and tests anesthesia equipment to ensure proper
functioning.
Inserts and/or uses invasive and non-invasive monitoring devices for continuous
evaluation of patient’s status under anesthesia.
Demonstrates proficiency in monitoring and
management of airway; cardiovascular, pulmonary, and neuromuscular status; and emergence and
recovery from an anesthetic.
Supervises, instructs and evaluates student anesthetists.
Maintains
legible, accurate, and complete medical records for each anesthetic administered.
Transfers
responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively. Ensures
continuity of care and patient safety.
Adheres to patient and personnel safety procedures (infection
control, fire, safety electrical and chemical hazards).
Perform post-anesthesia evaluations as
supervised or directed by the attending anesthesiologist.
Demonstrates proficiency with maintenance
of equipment and clean work areas. Reports necessary equipment repairs and adjustments via proper
channels.
Participates in interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient safety and quality delivery of
anesthesia care.
Participates in the quality assessment processes developed by Orlando Health
Bayfront Hospital and the Anesthesiology Department.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual
attendance consistent with Bayfront Medical Group policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state,
and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Bayfront Medical Group policies and
procedures.

Qualifications
Education/Training
Meets all educational requirements to become a
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the American Association of Nurse
Anesthetists (AANA) and
a Florida licensed Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP).
Licensure/Certification
Meets all
of the following:
Maintains current Florida Nursing License - Advanced Registered Nurse
Practitioner (ARNP).
Certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Current National Advanced
Practice Certification from a nursing specialty board recognized by the Florida Board of Nursing
(i.e., Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists, or Council on Recertification of Nurse
Anesthetists, or their Predecessors).
Maintains current certification in Healthcare Provider/BLS,
ACLS and PALS.
