Engineer Equipment Operator Supervisor

Summary This position is located in National Capital Parks-East, in the Maintenance Division. The incumbent provides first level supervision, planning, and direction for a group of nonsupervisory workers engaged in the operations, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, preservation, and project management oversight of heavily utilize roads, bridges, and trails. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. You must possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License. You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle. You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. Emergency Essential: You will be designated as emergency essential and will be required to work call back and emergency overtime. Overtime, weekend, and/or night work will be required. Incumbent may be required to work a schedule other than Monday through Friday. If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Government Charge Card: You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. Qualifications Condition of Employment: This position requires that the incumbent must possess a valid State or District of Columbia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). NOTE: A copy of your State or District of Columbia Class B CDL will be requested during the pre-employment process if you are selected for this position. Physical Demands: Physical duties include frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, crawling, climbing, stretching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. Work requires physical effort such as frequently lifting and moving heavy objects over 50 lbs., hooking up equipment and attachments to vehicles, loading and unloading vehicles, etc. During normal duties, incumbent may occasionally be required to climb ladders and scaffolding, work below ground level, remain in strained or cramped positions for extended periods of time, and work on slopes of stairs. Working Conditions: Incumbent will work outside and is subject to discomfort from long periods on the hot sun, high humidity, winter weather, inclement weather, and cold temperatures. Incumbent will be required to wear prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for the job, equipment, and working conditions. Because of the duties performed, there is the chance of minor injuries such as bruises, cuts, scrapes, and the occasional possibility of serious injury from working with machinery, In areas of high traffic along roadways, or other conditions.
