About the Position: This position is located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
Subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
This position requires successfully complete security guard training.
Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
This position requires an employee wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
Position requires not having any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
This position requires an incumbent to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT).
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
This position requires the wearing of the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) Uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience is defined as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience (1) experience participating as a team member or leading a security guard force; (2) experience controlling access of vehicles, visitors and pedestrians into a facility such as a military installation; (3) experience using automated systems to query and verify suitability for visitor entry into a facility such as a military installation.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
