Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. In accordance with AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing. This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. Position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. Incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver from the Office of the Provost Marshal General. In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must meet all requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP). In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must take and pass an initial Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire, and annually thereafter. In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent complete an initial Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certification, and an annual re-certification requirement. Must be able to obtain clearance certification with the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN), Public Safety Commission, for access to and exposure to law enforcement sensitive information and operation of NLETS/ NCIC terminals. In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation. In accordance with Army Regulation 190-56 must be able to qualify initially and at a minimum, semi-annually re-certify with assigned weapon(s) and handling of assigned weapon(s) to include less than lethal weapons. Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for the GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining order and protecting life and property; responding to emergency calls, complaints, or other calls during shift; and completing police reports or forms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience for the GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes performing law enforcement work which involves basic laws, regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and/or techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and/or property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job there is no education substitution for experience, you must qualify based on specialized experience. Management may select any grade level announced for this position. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management. This position does not confer automatic promotion to the target grade. Incumbent may be eligible for non-competitive promotion to target position upon meeting time-in-grade restrictions and the following requirements: Incumbent demonstrates ability to perform at target grade level; Supervisor recommends promotion; Incumbent completes all required training, and conditions of employment; and Incumbent completes all regulatory requirements for career ladder promotions.
