Summary This position is located in Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP), Consumer Research Unit and is responsible for conducting and advising on major economic research and analysis projects. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must meet the Basic Requirements and the minimum qualifications to qualify for each grade they wish to be considered for. Basic Requirement: A) Degree in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting or calculus. OR B) A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, applicants must also meet the minimum qualifications to be considered: To qualify for the CG-12, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-11 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as: Experience using economic principles and theories to perform economic research and analysis of the financial services industry or of economic policy; designing and using advanced financial or econometric models. To qualify for the CG-13, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as: Experience using economic principles and theories to perform economic research and analysis of the financial services industry or of economic policy to inform economic policy decisions; designing and using advanced financial or econometric models as part of a publication or to meet an institutional objective. To qualify for the CG-14, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-13 grade level or above in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is defined as: Experience using economic principles and theories to perform economic research and analysis of the financial services industry or of economic policy to inform policy or business decisions; designing and using advanced financial or econometric models to address specific economic policy problems; and presenting analytical results. Applicants eligible for ICTAP (Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program) must achieve a score of 80 or higher in the online assessment to be determined “well qualified” for this position.
