Summary
This National Guard position is for a HELICOPTER FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D2460000 and is part of the AASF located in West Jordan, with the Utah Army National Guard.
IAW UTNGR 690-12 dated AUG 2022 and LIUNA-UTARNG CBA dated 11 OCT 2022, Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTARNG.
The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is LTC NATHAN PATRICK.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Military Rank: Warrant Officer, 153A
- For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
- National Guard Membership is required.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- This position is located in the Army National Guard Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF).
- The position is responsible for providing instruction, evaluation and examination of rated pilots, instructor pilots and aero scout observers in flying techniques and methods of instruction, examination and evaluation.
- Instruction involves basic and advanced techniques for flying aircraft using instruments.
- Incumbent is also responsible to the Facility Commander for all aspects of aviation/ground safety matters.
- This position is eligible to be in the union: Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA) Local 1776.
Qualifications
**Must include beginning and ending dates of employment stated as MM/YYYY; and total hours worked per week in order to determine part time vs. full time credit.
Army National Guard Warrant Officer Positions:
Must have the following experience:
- Must have working experiences in civilian aviation programs; or, in military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facilities; or, in Air National Guard Wing/ Operations Groups.
- Experienced in reviewing and analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information. Experienced in filing flight plans and conducting crew briefings.
- Experienced in aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments.
- Experienced in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operations or surveillance and reconnaissance.
- Competent in conducting or supervising the training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks.
- Experienced in developing plans and policies, monitoring operations, and advising commanders. Knowledge is required in flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and operating procedures.
- Experienced in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of Defense, Department of the Army, National Guard Bureau, and/or Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies, regulations, and directives.
Applicants must have the following:
1. Must have the appropriate security clearance:
a. In regard to the aviator position's Series GS 2181 and the DoD criteria for the technician position's compatible military skill classification security clearance requirements.
OR
b. Awarded a current Single Scope Background Investigation according to Army or Air Force Personnel Security Program Management Directives. Award of entry level to the technician position's compatible military skill, without a completed SSBI, is authorized provided an interim Top Secret security clearance was granted.
2. No record of claustrophobia or claustrophobic tendencies.
3. To maintain the position - The incumbent must have a current Network License according to Army or Air Force Directives, Licensing Network Users and Certifying Network Professionals.
Education
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must have an degree or undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university. And have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools.
Must submit transcripts and certifications.

Are advised to meet with education specialist to review contract.
