Supervisory Biologist

Summary The position is located in the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Health Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), National Intramural Sequencing Center (NISC). Serves as a Biologist and Director of the Sequencing Group at NISC. Provides direction and supervision to a team of biologists and technicians, manages a full range of sequencing projects and technology and process improvement initiatives. Position requires Education, please include transcripts with application. Qualifications In order to qualify for a Biologist, GS-0401 position, you must have: A. Completed the requirements of a bachelor's (or graduate) degree in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, from an accredited college or university; OR B. a combination of experience and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to this position, AND appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position. In addition to the education requirements, to qualify at the GS-14 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following tasks: 1) Managing day-to-day operation of a production sequencing group, including coordinating activities of laboratory research projects 2)Utilizing sequencing projects and technologies; 3) Evaluating and coordinating implementation of sequencing methods and technologies; 4) Reviewing raw and processed data for quality control; and 5) Communicating technical knowledge of sequencing platforms and applications to researchers.
