Summary
These Patient Care Technician positions are located within the Clinical Center Nursing Department (CCND), at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC) Magnet with Distinction ™ Hospital, in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Patient Care Technician reports directly to a Nurse Manager for a patient care area within the CCND and works under the delegation of a Clinical Research Nurse.

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-7 level, you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: Administering tests and procedures to include measuring height and weight, EKGs, finger stick for glucose monitoring; collecting specimens such as 24 hour urine, specific gravity test, and performing patient positioning, wound care and 1:1 observation; performing point of care patient testing; setting up a variety of specialty patient care equipment, (i.e., automated blood pressure devices, EKG rhythm strips, 12 lead EKGs, specialty beds and ceiling lift devices); and caring for patients on enhanced precautions through the use of Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., use of an N95 mask, donning and doffing clothing for use in isolation).
You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.

Additional information
This position is designated as an "emergency essential" position and the selected candidate will be considered an "emergency essential" employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances (e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapses in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations) for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage.
A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
