Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
There may be heavy workload and or short deadlines for processing work that may require overtime work.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Some travel may be involved.
Qualifications
Trident Refit Facility in Bangor, WA is seeking a highly skilled Refit Manager to coordinate advanced refit planning efforts for our fleet of Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN) Submarines to servein the Business and Program Support Department (Code 900) of Trident Refit Facility (TRF), Bangor WA.
To qualify at the GS-12 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing program management services relative to the refit planning, and analysis of the TRIDENT Class Submarines maintenance plan.
To qualify at the GS-11 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing logistics review, refit planning and execution, or analysis in support of the TRIDENT Class Submarines maintenance plan.

Education
Education may be substituted for experience as follows:
For the GS-11:
completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree
OR
completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Desired skills and abilities include: experience onboard Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear submarines (SSBN) in a maintenance environment, analyzing data with Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Power Platform, attention to detail, oral communication and written communication.
