This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Wire Communications Cable Splicing Inspector without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common troubleshooting all types of telephone equipment and distribution systems; using tools/equipment such as holehawgs, rotohamers, drill motors hot metal pots, aerial buckets, ladders; and common hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, hammers. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating Physical Effort - Work requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, pulling cables, and working in cramped or uncomfortable conditions, underground or at moderate heights for extended periods. Frequently lifts and carries 20 to 100 pounds. Working Conditions - Works inside and outside in all weather conditions, and occasionally in crawlways under buildings or in attics. Exposed to injuries from use of hand tools, electrical shock while working with cables which may be electrically charged, falls from high places when installing or repairing aerial cables, and noxious fumes in manholes. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
