Summary This position will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland Arnold Hall Community Center. This is a Regular - Full Time category position with guaranteed 35 hours per week and may work up to 40 hours per week. Work schedule varies based on facility needs and includes weekends and/or holidays. Employees appointed to regular category positions are eligible for benefits. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or special occasions. To be considered for this position, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal U.S. Resident for a minimum of 3 years and must reside in/around the area as noted in the Job Opportunity Announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Three years progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical, or other work which has provided general knowledge of management principles and practices demonstrating the ability to carry out continuing projects or programs. In addition, applicant must have 2 1/2 years specialized experience that demonstrates the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation and leisure. Experience which demonstrated the ability to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions, plan and organize work, and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Work requires physical exertion and applicant must be able to lift 15-30 lbs. A Bachelors Degree in Recreation may be substituted for three years basic experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of basic budget preparation as it applies to operating and capital expenditure budgets. 2. Skilled in the use of automation software and related equipment. 3. Knowledge of programming and hospitality. 4. Creative thinking and leadership skills. **NOTE: Those qualified applicants who meet both the minimum qualification requirement(s) and highly preferred criteria(s) will be considered best qualified for this position and will be referred to the selecting official(s) first for consideration. This position does allow for education substitution. A Bachelors Degree in Recreation may be substituted for three years basic experience. Transcripts MUST be provided with the application to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
