Job Purpose

As part of the Chief Technology Officer organization, the Corporate Advanced Technology Development team is dedicated to developing and demonstrating advanced mobility technologies, focusing on new growth areas with longer time horizons. We develop system-oriented solutions that shape the future of mobility through collaborations with other functional areas and business units at BorgWarner, and external technology partners.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cloud Software Development Lead to join our team. In this role, you will be a key player in developing cloud-based software solutions for our AI/ML and E-Mobility projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, comprising internal and external personnel, to design, develop and deploy software solutions for proof-of-concept projects that can inform the development of future BorgWarner products. Your extensive technical expertise and leadership skills will be leveraged to guide a growing software development team building enterprise-grade SaaS applications.

This is a hybrid role based at BorgWarner's Propulsion Technology Center (PTC) in Auburn Hills, MI that provides an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and play a key role in shaping the future of sustainable mobility. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Lead and participate in the design and implementation of innovative, proof-of-concept software solutions for mobility related products and systems, including for electrified, connected, and automated vehicles.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope and requirements.
• Prepare detailed software solution specifications, documentation, and standards.
• Guide and oversee personnel working at external service providers as required.
• Provide technical leadership to a growing software development team supporting enterprise-grade SaaS applications, in particular in the areas of AI/ML.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and make recommendations for the adoption of new tools and technologies.
• Write Records of Invention and technical papers, and present at key mobility technology venues.
• Occasional travel; flexible work schedule necessary on occasion.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• Required:
  • BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or similar
  • Solid foundation in Computer Science (data structures, algorithms, optimization)
  • Experience leading project teams, including external collaboration partners and contractors
  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial skills, such as creativity, strategic agility and ability to work with ambiguity
  • Experience writing detailed solution specifications, best practices/standards documentation, etc.
  • Experience defining cloud-based application architecture
  • 5+ years experience designing, developing, and deploying scalable web applications in an enterprise environment
  • 5+ years cloud software development experience
  • Experience building Big Data pipelines for operational and analytical solutions
  • Practical experience working with and deploying AI/ML models
  • Experience developing microservice architectures and APIs
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills, and effective working in a team

• Preferred:
  • MS in Computer Science or Engineering, or similar
  • Experience working in Microsoft Azure cloud and integrating with Microsoft technologies (Azure Data Factory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft PowerBI)
  • Experience working with IoT devices
  • Knowledge of mobility systems, particularly related to passenger cars, as well as light and heavy-duty commercial vehicles
  • Knowledge of connected and automated vehicle systems; including ADAS modules such as camera, radar, and others
  • Familiarity with OCPP, ISO 15118
