Kytopen is streamlining cell engineering for use in next-generation cell therapies. We enable transformative therapies with our patent-pending continuous Flowfect® non-viral transfection platform. We are looking for an Application Development Scientist who will lead our efforts to develop industry leading cell therapy applications by working in coordination with our R&D and commercial teams to deliver on our applications development roadmap. The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented, independent individual possessing strong analytical and communication skills with a degree in biological engineering, chemical engineering, immunology, or a related field, with at least 6 years of industry experience developing cell therapies or supporting technologies.Â
Responsibilities and Duties (What we need)Â

Develop and optimize scientific applications or methods for our Flowfect technologyÂ

Conduct experiments and analyze data to support product development and characterizationÂ

Create technical protocols and scientific reportsÂ
-
Prepare and follow standard operating procedures, batch records and other process documentationÂ
-
Work with external collaborators to define project workplans, align on deliverables and milestones, and technology transfer.Â

Serve as subject matter expert in internal and external scientific efforts utilizing the Flowfect® technology

Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions, collaboration with the field applications team to assist in the development of leading applications, utilizing VoC developed within the sales processÂ

Generate high-quality experimental reports for internal and external presentation and reviewÂ
Requirements (About you)Â
What:Â
-
Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in biological engineering, chemical engineering, immunology, or a related fieldÂ
-
At least 6 years of industry experience with a biotech, diagnostic, pharmaceutical company (at least 4 years with a Ph.D.), prior cell and gene therapy experience preferred.Â

Experience working in a regulated environment and building products according to Industry StandardsÂ
-
Experience working with human HSC and/or immune cell biology, genetic manipulation of primary cell types, and viral and non-viral biomolecule delivery.Â

Experience managing or supervising junior employeesÂ

Experience in standard processing techniques including multi-parameter flow cytometry, molecular biology, immunological assays, and cell cultureÂ

Understanding of gene editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR, TALENs), in emerging cell therapy technologiesÂ
-
Experience with design of experiments tools such as JMP and practical knowledge of statistical analysisÂ

Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, root-cause-analysis, and trouble-shooting skillsÂ

Strong written and verbal communication skillsÂ
