Corporations IT is a key investment area for Amadeus. We provide corporations with the tools to shape their employees’ travel experience and expense reimbursement, and to manage their own business more effectively – from pre-trip approval, travel shopping, policy compliance, and expense auditing; as well as Business Intelligence and Duty-of-Care solutions.

The mission of the team is to provide valuable products supporting our worldwide strategy and business model, turning customers’ business needs into valuable features and products.

The technical environment is composed of several components building together our flagship product Cytric. The development is mainly done in Java and a typical e-commerce architecture. The product has a 20+ year history and the components have different levels of technical debt and maturity. Recently, we added to our portfolio a cloud-native solution which integrates our services in the Microsoft Office 365 environment, especially for collaboration in Teams “Cytric Easy”. This solution is paving the way for our overall cloud migration with the final goal to have all our applications running on Azure.

The Manager of the Architecture and Toolchain will guide a team of experienced software architects, SAFe System Architects, Principal Engineers, and Software Developers leading our application evolution from monolith to Microservices and from on-premise to the Cloud. The team maintains and evolves the Toolchain enabling our developers to deliver with increased speed, efficiency, quality, and engagement to production.

We are working closely with the Amadeus architect community, with our operations teams and contribute to the Cloud Native Design and the Creation Platform.

Being an Amadeus growth business, we are preparing our platform for massive growth and to support additional business cases so one of your challenges will be to make sure the application is ready to support the expected business growth.

Purpose

• Guide a team of experienced and independent engineers to drive our application architecture and toolchain evolution in cooperation with Enterprise architects.

• Refine, maintain, and communicate a shared technical and architectural vision and align it with Amadeus Enterprise architecture.

• Work with the System and Solution Architects of the ARTs to transform the vision into an executable enabler backlog (architectural runway) supported by our investment strategy.

• Establish a process to align architecture decisions within and outside of RDT.

• Collaborate with TTA to contribute to Amadeus Architecture evolution.

• Manage technical dependencies in cooperation with Platform and Operations.

• Drive our evolution to Release on Demand from Feature toggles to automated deployment.

• Define and establish our future Target Operating Model for Microservices and Cloud.

• Measure and address our technical debt by proposing strategies and prepare investment decisions.

• Support Cytric API and AI Strategy and identify areas where Cytric can contribute to Creation Platform.

• Define and continuously develop the product technical vision & the business value, based on the needs of the users, customers, and market.

• Work with customers, stakeholders, and suppliers to establish high-level solution intent (repository for storing, managing, and communicating the knowledge of current and intended solution behavior).

• Apply design thinking tools and practices.

• Participate in planning, definition, and high-level design of the solution and exploration of solution alternatives.

• Operate within an economic framework when analyzing the impact of design decisions.

Demonstrate Technical Know-How

• Responsible for software architecture throughout the development lifecycle, taking into consideration system constraints and enterprise architecture strategic directions.

• Direct and coordinate software architecture studies for RDT.

• Identify modeling, simulation, and prototyping opportunities.

• Provide knowledge on state-of-the-art software architecture, taking future developments into account.

• Select appropriate design standards, methods, and tools.

• Provide oversight and foster Built-In Quality and Team and Technical Agility.

• Establish critical NFRs for the solution and participates in the definition of others.

Decentralize Decision-Making

• To avoid being the technical bottleneck, the lead fosters decentralized decision-making and empowers the architects and teams while ensuring that solutions meet expected standards and enterprise architecture strategy.

Enable the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps

• Define (with portfolio stakeholders), explore, and support the evolution of CI/CD.

• Actively participate in the Continuous Exploration process as part of the Continuous Delivery Pipeline.

• Harmonize CI/CD pipeline with Cytric and align it with Amadeus choices to increase overall efficiency.

• Provide feedback to Amadeus teams working on the toolchain to influence the evolution.

• Secure the move to Release on Demand and support it via automation and the latest available tools (e.g., GitHub).

Embrace a Leadership Role

• Contribute to the Vision and Roadmap of the solution and communicate the vision for change.

• Contribute to the architect community, educate, study options, and recommend evolutions.

• Guide our AI initiatives and refine Architecture to integrate AI into our product.

Act as a change agent

• Incarnate and influence to drive a technological change to the cloud and related CI/CD.

• Promote continuous education, mentoring, and provide training and coaching to improve the effectiveness of the team.
