Summary & Scope of Position:

Provide laboratory support for scientific development activities to support the INTERCEPT Blood Systems. Develop, validate, and implement assays to investigate red blood cell immune response and red cell adduct stability.

Support research and/or development activities by performing studies to support development, validation and conduct of assays for multiple projects. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute experiments, analyze data and interpret results either independently or as a team member.
  • Develop, implement, and validate new methods and technologies for project advancement.
  • Assist with the design and execution of studies, analysis of data, and making recommendations.
  • Perform and appropriately document GLP and notebook studies.
  • May provide expertise to project teams including contribution of ideas, developing plans, execution of plans and timely reporting of results
  • Write study plans, final reports, notebook entries and other required documentation of work.
  • Assist in the maintenance of general laboratory function through monitoring of consumables inventory, laboratory waste management, and QC and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
  • Presents results of data at departmental or project meetings.
  • May present at scientific conferences and contribute to scientific publications.
  • May determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • May supervise, mentor or provide guidance to other personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements/Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • Experience working with human blood products desirable.
  • Experience with flow cytometry of cellular surface markers.
  • Experience with immunological assays such as ELISA, immunoprecipitation, immunoagglutination, and Western blots. Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, scientific and graphics applications. 
  • Understanding of laboratory procedures, equipment, and computerized data handling.
  • Experience working in a GLP or other regulated environment desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with GLP/GMP regulations.
  • Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal, listening).
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Time management (schedules, timelines, task prioritization).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; solution oriented.

Compensation: The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $93,000-$113,000 annually.  Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on various factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
