tms is seeking a talented Associate Product Engineer, 12-month contract. As a vital member of a cross-functional team, you will excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, focusing on innovative functionality and product development. Your responsibilities will involve collaboration with industrial design, product management, project management, color/material/finish (CMF), quality assurance, and production engineering teams to consistently roll out new consumer products. You will play a crucial role in uniting forward-thinking design aesthetics with practical product functionality on a global scale.
The ideal candidate for this role will bring independent engineering expertise and judgment, focused on the creation of new consumer products. This role calls for robust critical thinking and the ability to work cohesively with a diverse team, including non-technical stakeholders and decision-makers.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include the development of new product solutions, as well as supporting retooling projects with the addition of replicating color/material/finish solutions. Proficiency in CAD modeling, multi-level assemblies, prototyping and high attention to detail is essential. You will also effectively communicate engineering concepts, risks and potential alternatives to non-engineering stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ORGANIZATION
- Create, modify, and manage 3D CAD models which can include complex surfacing and non-native data (SolidWorks preferred).
- Build functional and representative prototypes with both internal equipment and outside resources.
- Present and communicate with non-technical stakeholders regarding engineering concepts, design options, manufacturing capabilities, root cause issues and prototypes.
- Create and maintain engineering risk analysis and mitigation plans for manufacturing.
- Manage, execute, and report on 20 to 30 active projects at varying stages and complexities.
- Partner on problem solving with CMF team overseas factory-based engineers to ensure replication of color/material/finish solutions when retooling products at new facilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines; ability to delegate tasks and seek help.
- Work with overseas factory-based engineers to launch products on time and in scope translating product requirements and design intent into manufacturable and robust engineering solutions. (Sometimes requiring late meetings or emails)
- Strive to maintain a client-first atmosphere, being flexible and helpful in responding to changing business needs, deadlines, and evolving customer requests.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE
- Education: Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Design ).
- Professional Experience: 0 to 2 years prior experience in a similar position.
- Strong 3D CAD modeling capabilities (SolidWorks experience preferred).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, specifically metal forming and plastic injection molding and silicone compression molding, as well as CMF development.
- Competency with basic hand, measurement, drilling, cutting and prototyping tools.
- 1+ years of experience of product design of consumer hard goods, Lean Design and Design for Manufacture; Experience with Asia based factories desired.
- Experience with data analysis and reporting technical findings desired.
- Successful track record delivering a constant flow of projects with aggressive timelines with close attention to detail desired.
Salary: $45.00/hr-$48.00/hr

The base pay range for this position is for a successful candidate within the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on multiple factors, such as job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and experience. tms is a total rewards company, which includes rewards beyond base salary. At tms, full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus, based on company and individual results.
