Associate Director, Immunology

Be Biopharma is looking to hire a Associate Director, Immunology. We are looking for highly motivated, experienced, and innovative thinkers to join our growing team of passionate researchers to leverage B cells as a novel class of cellular medicine. This role will focus on developing allogeneic B cell medicines, designing strategies for in vitro and in vivo characterization of allogeneic prototypes, conducting, and overseeing experiments, and mentoring staff. Role & Responsibilities:

• Design experimental strategies for the testing and validation of allogeneic B cell medicines in vitro and in vivo
• Oversee characterization of immunological properties of allogeneic B cell prototypes
• Guide establishment and troubleshooting of co-culture assays to profile allogeneic interactions of engineered B cells in vitro
• Work hand-in-hand with Preclinical Pharmacology Team to devise in vivo validation plan, including selection and characterization of appropriate mouse models for the study of allogenetic cell products
• Identify, establish, and optimize suitable readouts to thoroughly characterize interactions of engineered B cell medicines in vivo
• Maintain awareness of latest developments in allogeneic cell therapy field and explore innovative approaches and techniques
• Coordinate generation of comprehensive data package showcasing the performance of Be Bio’s allogeneic B cell medicines, and support regulatory filings
• Training, supervision and development of staff

Minimum Experience, Education, and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• PhD in Immunology or a related field
• 5+ years of directly applicable experience in the pharma or biotech industry, or an academic group focused on the immunology of allogeneic cell therapies (title commensurate with experience)
• Demonstrated record of scientific achievement (strong publication and/or patent record)
• Deep immunology expertise is required, knowledge of B cell biology is preferred
• Expert-level understanding of allogeneic shielding strategies
• Deep expertise in conventional immunology techniques and cell-based assays
• Proven ability to establish and troubleshoot co-culture in vitro assays (incl. MLR, NK-killing, and phagocytosis assays)
• Expert knowledge of humanized and adoptive transfer mouse models for the study of allogeneic immunological responses
• Strategic mindset, scientific creativity, ability to innovate, and aptitude for analytical problem solving
• Enjoys managing and training staff, and fostering career development
• Happily works collaboratively in a team with excellent communication and presentation skills
• Enthusiastic and motivated with a positive can-do attitude
