Role responsibilities

Business development and external investment is an exciting, priority focus of both Loxo@Lilly and Lilly as a whole. We are currently seeking well-qualified candidates for our forecasting and market analytics role to support these business development efforts. This role will be responsible for creating forecasts and market analyses on a broad variety of projects, as well as influencing senior leadership and stakeholders towards understanding the opportunities that exist for the company externally. This role represents a unique opportunity to influence the future of both Loxo@Lilly and the future of cancer patient care.

This role will also be responsible for assisting in the commercial decision process for our existing internal assets, understanding and evaluating market research data sources, and the development of forecast modeling and capability. This work includes market landscape analysis, insights discovery, competitive analysis, branding & strategy development, scenario planning, and performance tracking & evaluation as core deliverables. It also includes various secondary analyses in collaboration with brand partners and leadership to help address meaningful business questions. The forecasting and analytics team must be able to understand the market research and translate actionable insights into smart opportunity assessments, revenue projections and business recommendations for the business unit.

This person will primarily work cross-functionally with our New Product Planning commercial, Pricing, Corporate Finance and Investment, and medical/development teams to evaluate opportunities quickly. There will be frequent opportunities to present and influence with business unit leadership, as business development projects offers a fast-paced environment where decisions can be made quickly.

Strong Candidate Criteria

Strong candidates for this role will demonstrate an ability to identify market opportunities on the basis of future scientific innovation, and who can do so across any area of oncology development. This role favors those who show a curiosity for new knowledge and a general learning agility. General analytic and research skills, as well as the ability to synthesize across data is required. Strong statistical/data-science skills can help, but are not required. Those who have had prior forecasting /valuation/finance experience within pharma/oncology will also benefit.

Key objectives and deliverables

  • Develop and deliver forecasts and market analyses supporting our business development and internal pipeline efforts.
  • Communicate and influence with senior leadership and stakeholders to understand risks and opportunities for investment; aligning business leaders to the core market dynamics, business insights, and performance drivers identified in the forecasting and planning deliverables.
  • Partner with New Product Planning, PRA, CFIB, and development teams to foster a collaborative and effective team environment in valuing future opportunities.
  • Synthesize learning across MR studies, secondary data, and syndicated analyses to develop deeper insight into the market & customer to drive strategic thinking and solution development.
  • Develop and apply broad knowledge of oncology markets to provide actionable recommendations for our valuation projects.
  • Demonstrate ownership of models and systems to aid in developing forecasts that improve efficiencies in forecasting work and communication of output.
  • Anticipates and resolves key technical, operational, or business problems that impact forecasting. Strengthen Lilly forecasting capabilities by incorporating external best practices, sharing learnings, developing tools or frameworks, improving predictive capabilities; this includes but is not limited to novel machine learning approaches or other disruptive technologies to the existing forecasting paradigm.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree

• 2-4 years of market research or business analytics experience

Additional Skills/Preferences

• 2-4 years of pharmaceutical industry experience

• Oncology therapeutic area experience

• Experience in forecasting pharmaceutical products

• Advanced business, market research, statistics and/or social sciences degree

• Experience presenting and synthesizing technical information in a clear and concise manner

• Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative techniques and analytics

• Demonstrated effectiveness in ability to work effectively in teams that includes peer coaching and situational support on team deliverables

-Role may be considered for hybrid work.

• Candidate must be flexible to travel as needed for projects which could be domestic or international. (0-10%)
