Associate Scientist II/Senior Associate Scientist

Dragonfly Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced research associate with a strong focus on molecular cloning and protein expression to join the Cell Line Development team.  The successful candidate will be a key member of the cell culture group responsible for production of mono and multi-specific antibodies, cytokine-fusions and recombinant proteins. Responsibilities:

• Support molecular cloning and protein production of Dragonfly Drug candidates
• Plan and conduct molecular biology experiments
• Sequence analysis, vector construction, plasmid annotation, maintenance of plasmid database
• Perform plasmid purification by mini-, midi-, maxi and giga-preps along with maintenance of bacterial stocks
• Small and large scale expression of recombinant proteins in mammalian cell lines
• Gather and analyze experimental data under the direction of the group leader
• Communicate results and coordinate activities within different project teams
• Maintain an excellent record of experiments in an electronic laboratory notebook following company guidelines for best-practices 

Qualifications:

• B.S/ M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or related discipline and 2+ years of industry experience (title commensurate with experience)
• Excellent aseptic skills, and mammalian cell culture experience is a must
• Proficiency with standard molecular biology skills including bacterial culture and transformation, PCR, cloning, DNA purification, restriction digestion, sequence analysis and vector construction
• Expertise with molecular biology techniques such as Gibson assembly, Golden Gate and CRISPR
• Experience using DNA analysis and design tools such as SnapGene, BLAST, etc
• Direct experience with mammalian cell lines such as expi-CHO and Expi-293 is required and familiarity with cell culture performance at various scales from shake flasks to bioreactors is a plus
• Experience with protein purification by affinity chromatography, SEC, ion exchange is preferred
• Familiarity with protein characterization techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot, ELISA, BLI, etc.) is a plus
• Attention to detail, ability to multitask, and strong communication skills are required
• Efficient time management and ability to work on several projects simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with members of the multidisciplinary team
• Excellent record keeping abilities, to document analytical data generated in support of regulatory requirements, adherence to GDP, experience with ELN
