Job Description
Summary
This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Chief Counsel. As an Attorney-Advisor (General), you will be responsible for representing the Bureau before administrative forums, providing legal opinions, advice, and counsel on all programs of the Bureau. The position reports to the Deputy Chief Counsel. Experience in Federal sector labor and employment litigation and counseling is desirable. The major responsibilities are defined in Title 31 of the US Code.

SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Falsification discovered in security documents or during the background investigation process may result in an immediate negative suitability determination or immediate revocation of your interim clearance (if applicable).
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Basic Requirements: Applicants MUST:(1) be a graduate of an accredited law school with an LL.B. or J.D.; from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) ABA Approved Law Schools; (2) be a current member of a bar with a valid license to practice law in a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; and(3) meet all specialized experience requirements as described in the vacancy announcement.
Examples of such experience might include:
- Considerable experience in acting as an agency or client representative in administrative or judicial proceedings, preparing drafts of legal briefs for complex judicial or administrative proceedings, advises on matters involving general law to include personnel and labor law.

Education
Department of Treasury Office of General Counsel; Directive No. 2: Attorney positions do have an education requirement. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school with an LL.B. or J.D. For positions with an education requirement, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or equivalent. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.

- The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.

- This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. - Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
