Automation Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Vibalogics is looking for a highly motivated Automation Engineer that is looking to join a growing Automation team. Various levels of experience are being considered. This role will be working with vast array of DCS (distributed control systems), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), Data Historians, and Alarm Notification Systems. This role will need to be able to support programming/configuring, field wiring/troubleshooting, and software/hardware lifecycle management. The successful candidate will be responsible for working in a highly regulated environment, working closely with cross functional teams and ensuring deadlines are met.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:   Engineering Consultants, Interns, and vendor representatives, plus the future opportunity to help build a small team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage, design, install, configure, and maintain sites automation systems. This includes any servers, PLCs, SCADAs, and DCS systems
• Maintain, create, and update any documentation owned by the Automation Department
• Interface with stakeholders from various departments and vendors, taking accountability for deliverable timelines
• Support CQV readiness and assist with execution
• Provide technical support for GMP manufacturing runs, supporting manufacturing through quality systems; deviations, CAPAs, & change controls
• Drive continuous improvement projects
• Maintain working knowledge of 21 CFR, ICH Q9 & ICH Q10, EU regulations, GAMP, ASTM-E2500

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or related technical field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Life Sciences. Direct experience with single use systems is highly desirable
• Experience with programming, configuring, troubleshooting, and wiring a variety of SCADA, DCS, and Historian systems. This includes Delta Controls, Reese, Reliable, Mystro, OSIsoft Pi, Kepware, Ignition, Siemens, and Sartorius MFCS
• Understanding of IT infrastructure and networking (VMs, servers, firewalls, switches, VLANs, IPs, WiFi, etc)
• Experience with Rockwell PLCs (configuring, troubleshooting, backups, restoring, etc)
• Strong understanding of control loops (4-20ma, 0-10VDC, etc) and communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, BACnet, etc)
• Experience in administration and configuring OSIsoft Pi applications. Example: Asset Framework, Event Frames, Pi interfaces/connectors, and Historian
• Previous experience working in commissioning and validation environments is a plus. This would include experience with user requirement specifications, functional design specifications, change controls, CAPAs, SOPs, etc
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SQL

The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
