Summary
Position involves wildlife management and use of techniques to control damage caused by wildlife to help protect agriculture, natural resources, property, and threats to human health and safety. The work is concerned with wildlife damage management operations relating to the assessment, reduction, and/or elimination of problems associated with wild and/or feral animal species.

- To fulfill field or laboratory requirements in this position, proof of specific vaccinations and boosters, may be required as a condition of employment to prevent contracting preventable diseases.
- Legal and physical ability to possess and discharge firearms appropriately and safely is required.
- Incumbents must be able to comply with both Federal and State statutory requirements to possess and use firearms in the performance of their duties and must maintain state-mandated firearm use certification requirements.
- Extended travel or temporary duty may be required of the position. This may involve irregular working hours, including overtime.
Qualifications
FOR THE GS-06 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Experience organizing and conducting direct control operations to reduce wildlife damage within a geographical area of program involvement.
- Experience conducting wildlife damage assessments, counts and abundance surveys at airports.
- Experience negotiating cooperative service agreements to accomplish the goals outlined for the WS program.
- Experience assisting senior employees in writing reports and analyzing work related to wildlife damage management, may include Wildlife Hazard Management Plans.
One full year of graduate level education with an emphasis on wildlife management. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.

- This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

- Worksite Information: This is a 100% remote position that must be located within the cities and/or counties listed in the vacancy announcement. The duty station for a remote designation is the selectee's home and must be established within the defined geographic options prior to start date. The selectee is not required to regularly work from a government facility however, the option may be available.
