Summary
This position is that of Chief, Resident Services which is a senior-level management position located at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH), Gulfport. The Chief, Resident Services reports to and receives general direction from the Director, AFRH-Gulfport. The Director provides broad policy guidance to the Chief, Resident Services. The incumbent is appointed by the Director subject to the approval of the AFRH Chief Operating Officer.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. The AFRH ethics program promotes the highest standards of ethical conduct for all employees. As a federal employee, you will be subject to the Standards of Ethical Conduct, and the U.S. criminal conflict of interest statutes. As an AFRH employee, you will also be subject to the AFRH Supplemental Ethics Regulations which restrict the extent to which a AFRH employee can engage in certain activities and hold certain investments. Depending on your position, you may also be required to file a public or confidential financial disclosure report which must be filed within 30 days of your appointment as an employee of AFRH. Upon your new appointment, you will receive guidance regarding your ethics obligations. You will also be required to attend a mandatory ethics training within 3 months of your appointment. Qualifications
Specialized Experience for the GS-14 level: You must have at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level in the federal service that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Applying management techniques and methodologies in the development of programs for a healthcare environment, such as admissions, recreation services, food services, chaplain programs, and volunteer programs; AND
- Providing administrative direction in a healthcare environment, to include: budget development and management, recruiting and staffing, authorizing personnel actions, conducting performance reviews, or conducting grievance hearings; AND
- Leading a performance improvement committee to correct, monitor and maintain deficiencies that may affect a healthcare institutions accreditation, and preparing for and involvement in a healthcare agency's recurring accreditation process, such as with the Joint Commission.
SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired.

- Selectees will be subject to the AFRH Tuberculosis Surveillance Program.
- Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
