Job Description

Role Overview: The Cloud Engineer/Developer will play a pivotal role in migrating services built on the Django Rest Framework (DRF) to AWS. This individual will also be responsible for implementing and optimizing cloud-native solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of REST architecture, Kafka streams, VPC concepts, and modern streaming services. The person should be an excellent problem solver.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the migration of on-premises Django Rest Framework services to AWS.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions using AWS services.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize REST APIs to support application requirements.
• Work with Kafka to build and manage real-time streaming applications.
• Design and implement Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) architectures, including subnetting, routing, and security groups.
• Integrate modern streaming services such as Amazon Kinesis, Kafka Streams, or other event-driven platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and translate them into scalable cloud solutions.
• Implement best practices for cloud security, CI/CD pipelines, and cost optimization.
• Monitor cloud services and applications for performance and reliability, addressing any issues proactively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudFormation.
• Strong experience with Django Rest Framework (DRF) and REST API development.
• Proficiency in working with Kafka and Kafka Streams.
• Solid understanding of Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) concepts, including networking, security, and best practices.
• Experience with modern streaming services such as Amazon Kinesis, Apache Flink, or similar platforms.
• Proficient in Python and familiar with cloud-native development practices.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with observability tools and logging frameworks (e.g., CloudWatch, Elastic Stack).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of data streaming, event-driven architectures, and real-time analytics.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer) are a plus.
• Experience in database migration and optimization (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.
