The Opportunity
As a Compliance Analyst, you will work with a small team focused on all aspects of a distributing broker dealer. This includes back-office processes and ensuring adherence to the firm's policies and regulatory requirements. The role will also require you work closely with internal business partners of MassMutual Ascend Life Insurance Company as well those of external vendors.
Job Description
- Supports the administration of Compliance programs and ensures compliance with the laws, regulations, and rules of federal, state, and self-regulatory organizations.
- Participates in development of annual compliance meeting and firm element training for registered representatives and non-registered associated persons.
- Participates in the review of advertising collateral.
- Participates in the review of gifts and non-cash compensation of associated persons.
- Participates in registration and supervision of associated persons of the broker dealer.
- Participates in the review of approved communications channels for associated persons of the broker dealer.
- Participates in the review of outside business activities of associated persons of the broker dealer.
- Participates in preparing and filing regulatory and compliance documents and/or reports.
- Participates in handling interactions pertaining to approvals.
- Participates in analyzing and responding to objections and inquiries from authorities.
- Participates in creating forms and reports to comply with new or existing regulatory requirements. Prepares memorandums regarding the use of forms.
- Participates in the reporting of any non-compliance or suspected fraudulent acts.
- Participates in administering and enforcing company compliance guidelines.
- Participates with complaint responses.
- Participates in the review and distribution of new laws, regulations and other regulatory publications.
- Participates in receiving, analyzing, interpreting, and responding to regulatory matters and/or inquiries from the various state departments of securities, federal agencies, self-regulatory organizations, industry associations, and internal customers. Refers more complex matters to appropriate staff, as needed.
- Participates in coordinating, administering, reporting on and developing audit/review processes.
- Participates in maintaining and retrieving material from departmental systems and files.
- May participate in performing research.
- May provide back-up coverage for other compliance areas.
- Maintains working relationships within state departments of securities and/or other regulatory authorities. Acts as a liaison between the organization, specific departments/business units, third party vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the organization, regulatory agencies, and current trends in ensuring compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 2 to 4 years of insurance/securities related experience
- Series 6 or 7 securities license required.
- Willing to pursue other designations over time as requested.
Ideal Qualifications
- Series 26 or Series 24 principal license preferred, but the principals license must be obtained within one year of being hired.
- May have made progress toward an Associate Insurance Regulatory Compliance (AIRC) designation.
