Job Description

The Order Coordinator will manage the daily planning and execution of rail car movements and truck transportation to our customers. This role will work directly with the Sr. Manager of Logistics Operations to plan, order and monitor daily rail car movements to meet Ingredion plant production and customer delivery requirements. The Order Coordinator ensures that accurate rail car information is recorded using Railtrac, SAP and provides necessary information on order fulfillment planning to yard operations, switching crews and operating units. The Order Coordinator role will also be responsible for truck carrier performance, improving transportation service and eliminating waste. This position will have frequent interaction with Ingredion plant locations and Customer Service. This role also provides back-up and vacation relief for other members of the Order Coordinator Team

As a Order Coordinator, your responsibilities will include:

Rail Coordination:

  • Monitor outbound and inbound shipments for plant and and secondary rail storage yards to ensure accurate interchange with the rail carrier
  • Complete all rail billing using Railtrac and Rail Road websites for outbound shipments and movements in-between plant and rail storage yards
  • Collaborate with plant departments to determine what is loaded, empty and needs to be moved to support daily plant production
  • Issue daily inventory report of cars that are loaded, empty at each storage location and distribute to relevant departments
  • Communicate with plant rail crew about ordered cars or cars to be removed
  • Proactively communicate rail road service issues and work with corporate rail team on resolution
  • Provide rail support for special projects and campaigns at the plant
  • Update estimated scale weights in SAP for rail cars once final weights are confirmed

Truck Logistics Planning

  • Process and coordinate all customer and intercompany shipments; ensure accuracy of data on all shipment documentation
  • Plan and tender loads to carrier base
  • Ensure that all loads are covered in a timely manner and carriers are following Ingredion protocol: Timely appointing, appropriate drop trailer pools, timely pick-up and delivery
  • Work directly with carrier base improve tender acceptance rate, on-time pick up, on time delivery
  • Anticipate and proactively communicate delivery issues to customer service
  • Proactively resolve urgent customer situations related to product delivery
  • Assess service issues. Provide root cause analysis to resolve chronic problems (either internal or external)
  • Become expert in BluJay TMS. Utilize the BluJay TMS to optimize transportation process
  • Work with carriers to ensure accuracy of freight invoices including the approval of accessorial charges

Qualified candidates will have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain/Logistics, with previous related internship or work experience a plus
  • Knowledge of rail & truck transportation logistics
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to function well as a team member or independently
  • Work collaboratively with peers, plant and others in team environment
  • Ability to interact calmly and professionally in high pressure environment
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a high level of initiative
  • Access, Excel, UMLER or Tableau a plus. On-going development will require emphasis on building queries and managing data within Access, Excel, or Tableau
