Job Description
CRAFT ASSOCIATE
APPARATUS is a New York-based designer and manufacturer of a distinctive catalog of high-end, high-touch lighting, furniture and objects. We produce both in-house and with the support of high-quality external partners; our catalog is sold globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEÂ
- Contribute to the making of products through applying Craft finishes.
- Produce consistent and high-quality work, on-time and according to department standards.
- Perform related Craft duties such as, cutting and gluing leather and horsehair, staining wood and selecting stone layouts, and preparing products as needed.
- Meet and record the output and quality goals that are set by the manager. Verify accuracy of all work orders, bill of materials and routes. Notify manager of any discrepancies.
- Understand the use and effects of various materials, equipment, and techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace; contribute to overall department organization.
- Provide overtime work when needed.
- Comply with all safety and Company policies. Consistently follow safe work procedures for metal preparation, as well as required worksite safety procedures.Â
- Communicate with Assistant Manager and Manager about supply needs.
- Support company initiatives and projects on an as-needed basis.
SKILLSÂ
- Ability to read and follow patterns and work instructions with precision.
- Ability to learn quickly by watching and doing, retain and build on knowledge.
- Skilled manual dexterity and use of tools.
- Ability to perceive color and depth of field; and match hue, value, intensity, translucency and texture.
- Acquainted with high-end and delicate materials requiring care and attention.
- Familiar with quality control inspection methodology.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and organization.
- Flexible team player committed to seeing things through to completion.
- Demonstrate a positive commitment to feedback.
- Ability to routinely and repetitively lift up to 30 pounds safely and, raise arms overhead; work standing on a regular basis, and climb a ladder as necessary.
- Ability to wear required protective equipment during work hours and abide by all safety policies and guidelines.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Craftsperson with a desire to learn and grow.
- Knowledge working with hands.Â
- Experience in a high-paced environment that values service, efficiency, and output.
- High school diploma or GED.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Material and manufacturing knowledge of metal, finishes, glass, porcelain and leather.
- Experience sewing and pattern making.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Full-time on-site hours: Monday–Friday between 8:00AM–5:00PM.
- Longer hours and weekend availability as needed.
PERFORMANCE REVIEW AND CHECK-INS SCHEDULE
- Weekly 1:1s and management meeting.
- Annual performance reviews.
