Summary
This position is with the School Age Center (SAC) and Middle School & Teen Program (MST) at Fort Buchanan, PR. Hours of Operations: 6:00am-6:00 pm.

- Must be 18 years of age or older at time of appointment or placement into the position.
- Proof of education is required at the time of application.
- Good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease (verified through physical examination). Immunizations must be current including annual influenza vaccinations.

Qualifications
1. Successful completion of a 4-year college or university degree with a major course of study which directly relates to the appropriate CYS field consistent with:
- For positions in Child Development Facilities: The education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as related behavioral science.
- For positions in Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as related behavioral science.
-For positions in School-Age facilities, the education must have been in any of the fields above.
2. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required:
- Experience that involved teaching children or other work that demonstrated the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to select, train, and supervise childcare and preschool employees, family childcare providers, or other care-giving adults.
- Ability to develop and implement child development programs, including family day care programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs.
- The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
- Must possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.
OR
1. Successful completion of at least 24 semester hours in a major course of study in education or appropriate CYS field as indicated above, plus appropriate work experience that provided knowledge skills and abilities directly related to the duties described.
2. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required:
- 3 months of directly related work experience teaching children or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position to be filled.
- Ability to develop and implement child development programs, including family day care programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs.
- The ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
- Must possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.
Highly preferred candidates will submit resumes that reflect ALL of the following and may be sent first for consideration:
- Supervisory experience in an after school setting.
- COA (Council on Accreditation) experience or similar.
- USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) experience or similar.
- CYMS (Child and Youth Management System) experience or similar.

Area of Consideration
The Area of Consideration for this announcement is within the local commuting area of Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
- This is a pay-banded position.
- Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). - Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
- In addition to the base hourly salary, this position is eligible for a Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) of 2.63%
- Additional referrals may be made from this vacancy announcement for up to 90 days after the closing date.
- This is a Regular Full-Time position that is eligible for leave accrual and benefits.
- Hours of Operations for after school programs during school year: 2:00pm -6:00 pm
- Hours of Operations for non-school days: 6:00am-6:00pm
- Duty hours will be from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
