Data Analyst I

The Enterprise Data Strategy team is focused on Cox Automotive Enterprise-wide data operations, including acquisition and syndication, and is responsible for managing and maintaining effective data relationships with third party data vendors. Data Strategy guides the "business of our strategic data", offering an opportunity to work in the technology industry, but with a strategic lens that leverages data. This analyst role will be focused on Data Acquisition Operations to support a growing Enterprise Data Acquisition function.
As a leader in the Automotive Software and Services market, vendors are keen to highlight their data products for use by Cox Automotive. The Enterprise Data Acquisition group works with many of the largest and most advanced data vendors in the US, overseeing a significant ($100M+) data budget.
The acquisition of data from third party vendors helps Cox Automotive product teams develop new or improve existing Cox Automotive software products for our dealers and our retail customers. The analyst in this role will assist with the strategic acquisition of data, working with teams across several Cox Automotive Business Units and a range of external data vendors.
Responsibilities and Duties:

• Own strategic Data Acquisition across the enterprise for given projects, serving as a representative of the Enterprise Data Strategy team, developing expertise across key process areas: Research, Negotiation, Financing, Contracting, and Vendor management
• Lead end-to-end relationship management for 3 key external vendors (out of ~20), build knowledge of relevant vendors capabilities, and relationships with Cox Automotive.
• Develop subject matter expertise in a data category and support the acquisition of that category of data across the enterprise, providing guidance to product development organizations throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Contribute to regular refreshes of the Data Acquisition Inventory, working in conjunction with the designated contacts in each Cox Auto business
• Responsible for maintaining the agreement repository: identifying upcoming renewals, processing terminations, uploading new contracts with appropriate metadata keywords
• Responsible for processing invoices for ~10 vendors under the Data Acquisition budget

Qualifications and Skills:

• Accredited 4-year college degree and up to 2 years experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated bias for action: Excellent execution and time management skills
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills, particularly when evaluating contract text, proposed fee structures, and other changes initiated by vendors

• Robust interpersonal and communication skills to effectively navigate complex relationships within a matrixed organization and negotiate with vendors

• Strategic problem-solving to creatively assess vendor intent and drive to an optimal solution with the least number of iterations
• Passion for learning new information, and applying gained knowledge to relationships

Preferred:

• Experience or certifications viewed favorably: Product Development, Supply Chain operations, Data Analysis, Finance and Accounting, Six Sigma, Negotiation training
• Experience, education, or background in corporate finance
• Planning, coordinating, consulting experience
