Job Title: Data Scientist

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Purpose and Objective:

SAP Labs, LLC seeks a Data Scientist at our Pittsburgh, PA location to research, prototype and develop in the data science, big data, and machine learning domain.

Expectations and Tasks:

Design and execution of end-to-end data science initiatives, explore data sources, implement data exploration, pre-processing and data cleansing on the historical data. Understand data and evaluate data quality from both data science and business value perspectives. Develop statistical / machine learning models. Integrate the statistical/machine learning models into products & features. Evaluate, improve/refine models by tuning parameters, adjusting data sources, or model approaches, to provide business value. Collaborate with data science team members, product managers, and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for new and innovative data analytics insights, metrics, and features. Drive excellence in data science work, performing experiments, documenting results, analyzing data, delivering new models, analysis, and insights. Develop and monitor metrics to evaluate the importance and success of data analytics, working to ensure their adoption and health. Design, develop and configure Smart Data integration. Perform real time data replication and apply complex transformation of network data using Smart Data Integration in SAP HANA Environment. Optimize, evaluate, and debug the SDI real time replication tasks between several source systems and target system in SAP HANA on a regular basis to avoid data discrepancies.

Education and Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 5 years of progressive post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. The company will also accept a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Work Experience:

Experience must involve 2 years in each of the following:

• Categorize and organize data for evaluating and identifying sourcing opportunities by querying data from purchase tools utilizing advanced Excel functions;
• Create analytics requirements to make data report-ready;
• Develop and deliver analytics solutions using Cloud data and applications;
• Business Intelligence Tools, including Business Objects, Web Intelligence, and Analytics Cloud;
• Scripting languages, including SQL, Python, R, and HANA;
• Predictive Analytics;
• HANA Architecture and building HANA data models; and
• Data extraction using ETL tools, including Smart Data Integration (SDI) and Smart Data Access.

Travel: N/A Telecommuting permitted.

Compensation Range Transparency: The annual base salary range for this position is $82,170 - $139,680. SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP's commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $92,200 - $156,700. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
