Job Description
Acumen is looking for a full-time Summer Associate (10 weeks paid internship) who is interested in international development to support the work of our New York Development and Partnerships team. This role reports Xaira Ferrara. Acumen currently works in a hybrid model, and people are in the NYC office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

About Development and Partnerships
We are a small and mighty team where everyone rolls up their sleeves together to bring in the revenue needed to support Acumen's work tackling the biggest problems of poverty. We engage a diverse donor audience, creating funding partnerships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and government institutions. The successful candidate will be detail and process-oriented, curious, analytical, and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
About the Role
The Development & Partnership Summer Associate will support the Associate Director in developing the concept and strategy for the NY Partner Gathering, an annual summit of Acumen's largest supporters on the East Coast. The Associate will also be responsible for researching prospects, creating and editing pitch materials, tracking activities and updating accounts in Salesforce, and assisting in delivering the Acumen Connect program.
More specifically, you will work with the NY Business Development team to:
- Support the creation and execution of Acumen's annual Partner Gathering, a strategic event that brings together Acumen Partners, investees, and leadership in NY.
- Assist in the coordination and planning of other fall fundraising events
- Perform research for donor and prospect meetings, providing prep materials with giving history, alignment with Acumen, etc.
- Update existing collateral and support the creation of new marketing materials
- Evaluate existing data in Salesforce, help prioritize outreach and create quality research profiles.
- Draft correspondence to introduce Acumen to new prospects and follow up over the phone when necessary.
- Verify and update profiles of existing donors using prospect research tools to ensure a more accurate understanding of Acumen's donor community.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Thorough research skills and the ability to analyze and make suggestions based on findings.
- Ability to learn new skills, procedures, and systems quickly without being afraid to ask questions
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Conscientious approach with good attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal with confidential information sensitively and appropriately.
- Ability to work effectively within Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Preferred: Experience supporting event production and operations
- Preferred: Experience with CRM (Salesforce) and Splash
- Self-reflective and aligned with Acumen values
- Permanently authorized to work in the US
