What is the opportunity?

As the Director, Business Operating Services and Client Risk Management within Business Financial Services (BFS), you will be a product management leader, accountable for the strategic oversight and execution of blocked and trust account products. You will develop, implement, and maintain product/portfolio strategies and tactics to ensure products continue to offer strong value propositions to all our business client segments.

You will also play a critical role in optimizing risk versus reward strategic outcomes for Business Deposits and Treasury Solutions (BD&TS), representing BFS for high-risk client reviews and supporting new regulatory initiatives. This role will require providing a high level of support to senior leaders across various groups within the bank, managing key stakeholder relationships and working collaboratively to lead cross-functional teams to support execution.

What will you do?

  • Act as the primary BFS representative for the AML Client File Review Committee, reviewing files presented for risk review and balance risks against client relationship and business strategy to decision on retain vs. de-market. Manage escalations that need executive attention due to reputation and/or regulatory risk/exposure with balanced recommendations to support key decisions

  • Lead representative for BD&TS on key regulatory initiatives, working in partnership with risk and compliance partners and other stakeholders to develop and implement a framework to understand and manage against all risk scenarios and gain alignment on key decisions with a view to ultimately act in the best interest of RBC and our clients

  • Responsible for all aspects of the product management life cycle for Trust Accounts and Blocked Account Arrangements including product strategy, pricing, client acquisition, overall profitability.

  • End-to-end product delivery (including sales/distribution channels and fulfillment) and customer-service support processes and associated costs

  • Ensure risk assessments (RTA) are documented and updated as per the required schedule and that adequate control measures are implemented and maintained throughout products life cycle. Given these are medium risk rated products, the associated risk and controls will need to be presented and approved by the PRAC senior committee – this role will represent at this committee along with Senior Director, Business Deposit to get these approved.

  • Build solutions and processes to ensure product line is competitive, meets client needs and is also compliant with evolving regulations (industry standards, AML regulations, Cross border requirements)

  • Lead, coach and develop Senior Product Manager, Business Operating Services, High Risk Product 

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have

  • Risk management experience and/or demonstrated experience with critically evaluating risk vs. reward and mitigation strategies

  • Product Development and Lifecycle Management experience or related experience

  • Effective communication and storytelling skills to interact across all levels of the organization with impact and influence

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with partners across different platforms

  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to navigate ambiguity and make complex decisions

  • Ability to lead your team with impact and influence, elevating performance through effective leadership and established trust.

Nice to Have:

  • Previous experience in Business Financial Services/Commercial Banking with an understanding of related products/services

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, commerce or related field
