DESCRIPTION: The Director of AI Engineering is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and passionate individual to join the team at Foundry, a subsidiary of the blockchain industry’s most prolific and active investor, Digital Currency Group. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of AI Engineering will lead and manage a high-performing engineering team responsible for the development of Foundry’s decentralized AI Platform.
This is a rare invitation to join a small, highly professional entrepreneurial group, with the backing of the most established player in the fast-growing crypto space.
This position requires living in the Rochester, NY area.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Â This role encompasses both technical leadership and strategic management, with a focus on delivering a high-impact product to market.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Technical Leadership:
- Provide vision and leadership for the AI engineering team, focusing on the development of Foundry’s AI Platform, ML platforms for predictive and generative AI, infrastructure, and incubation projects.
- Drive technical excellence and innovation, promoting leading-edge AI and ML technologies and best practices.
- Leverage Foundry’s SDLC to design and build high-quality software and relentlessly ship value.
- Employ DORA team performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering teams
Strategic Vision:
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the AI Platform, ensuring alignment with company objectives and product group requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver world-class AI-powered experiences.
- Engage in forward-looking planning, anticipating future technological needs and opportunities for innovation.
Product Development:
- Oversee the end-to-end development of the AI product, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize features for the platform.
- Drive the product development lifecycle, ensuring a seamless integration of AI technologies with user-centric design principles.
Team Leadership:
- Build, scale and lead a high-performing and engaged AI engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities.
- Serve a key leader across Foundry, fostering collaboration and alignment with key stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Present and communicate effectively to senior leadership and stakeholders, providing insights into the technical aspects of AI initiatives and their strategic impact.
- Influence decision-making processes by clearly articulating the technical vision and its alignment with business goals.
Innovation and Culture:
- Drive innovation within the organization, encouraging experimentation, innovation, and calculated risk-taking.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in AI platforms, infrastructure, and capabilities, contributing to the accelerated impact of AI across the company.
Minimum Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML development.
- 5+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing and scaling engineering teams.
- Proven track record of successfully bringing products to market.
- Strong expertise in machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and data analytics.
- Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Continuous learning mindset, adaptability to evolving technologies and a willingness to explore new methodologies and approaches to AI engineering.
Preferred Qualifications; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Master’s of Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning or a related field.
- Experience in the crypto currency industry.
- Experience managing and leading global or distributed engineering teams.
A range of compensation is provided for transparency, however different factors may affect this range. Some of these factors may include (but are not limited to) education, training, credentials, skills, geographic location, and experience. This range only includes base compensation and does not include other tangible benefits such as 401K match, bonuses, overtime pay, and other benefits.
Range of Compensation: $150,000-$225,000
