The Role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Trust & Safety and Global Public Policy, the Director of Corporate Security is responsible for overseeing and managing the four strategic pillars of Corporate Security - People, Policy, Technology, and Physical. This role requires a comprehensive approach to risk management, security planning, and collaboration with internal teams and external service providers. The Director of Corporate Security will also collaborate on the development and implementation of security policies, guidelines, and training programs to ensure everyone at Auror is adhering to best practices in safety and risk management.
Practically, this will involve:
Physical Security
- In partnership with Workplace Experience, develop and manage the physical security infrastructure for Auror premises around the world (e.g. access control, surveillance and alarm systems, and emergency response protocols).
- Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments of premises and implement corrective measures.
- With Workplace Experience, ensure that physical security measures are integrated into office layouts and renovations.
- Provide training and awareness programs for team members on recognising and responding to potential threats.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of security equipment.
- Develop and enforce visitor management policies (e.g. registration processes, on-site monitoring, and procedures for visitors in sensitive areas). Ensure visitor logs are maintained and reviewed regularly.
- Implement and maintain security protocols for protecting sensitive information (e.g. secure document disposal and restricted access to confidential files).
Key Event Security Management:
- Where appropriate, develop and implement security plans for higher-risk domestic and international events. This includes:
- Conducting threat assessments and developing security operational plans.
- Where relevant, engage in pre-event planning activities such as venue assessment, security resourcing, law enforcement liaison, and, if relevant, guest list security screening.
- Where relevant, provide onsite security, briefings and manage post-event processes, including debriefs and post-incident reviews (PIR) as required.
Executive & Board Security Management:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Executive Protection Program.
- Oversee the security operations for executive residences.
- Conduct ongoing threat assessments (real world and online) and develop residential security operational plans.
- Plan and manage security upgrades and repairs, including risk assessments, equipment installation, and coordination with law enforcement and security providers.
- Respond to and manage security incidents within the Executive Protection Program.
- Maintain and repair residential security systems as required.
- Develop customised security plans for sensitive occasions and provide briefings to select employees and senior leadership.
- Provide personal protection services to relevant Auror executives as needed.
People & Policy
- Develop and manage policies and guidelines for Corporate Security, ensuring:
- Maintenance and availability of relevant documentation in Notion.
- Monitoring and effectiveness of associated controls.
- Company-wide training and awareness programs.
- Collaborate with the Information Security team on the development and management of business continuity plans that account for both physical disruptions (e.g., natural disasters, physical attacks) and cyber incidents (e.g., ransomware, data breaches).
- Collaborate on Auror team training programs that cover both physical and cyber security, emphasising the importance of protecting both the physical and digital aspects of Auror and how the two are connected.
- In collaboration with the wider Trust & Safety and People Experience team, develop and implement crisis response protocols (including communications) Contribute to company risk management and financial control measures (FCM) through reporting and communications.
- Ensure compliance with processes concerning additional vetting/screening for new hires into sensitive roles.
- Respond to appropriate individual security situations as necessary globally.
Emergency Preparedness and Response:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans specific to office environments, including evacuation procedures, active shooter and kidnapping protocols, and shelter-in-place strategies.
- Develop a network with local law enforcement and emergency services
- Develop and conduct crisis response training exercises for the Auror team
- Lead the response to physical security incidents.
Key Event Security Management:

Supplier and Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Manage supplier relationships across all Corporate Security contracts.
- Be a key partner with Workplace Experience and Information Security
- Maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders, including law enforcement, intelligence agencies, security service providers, and internal stakeholders, including family members of key executive members.
This role reports to: Nick McDonnell - Senior Director Trust & Safety, Global Policy
Nick work's with Auror's Trust and Safety team across its privacy and assurance, corporate affairs, work with governments and senior law enforcement relationships. Prior to joining Auror, Nick led public policy for ANZ/Pacific at Meta for their suite of products, managed the Prime Minister's Business Advisory Council and worked in regulatory affairs with Air New Zealand. His work across these areas has touched on the interaction of privacy and security, counter-terrorism, child protection, election integrity and market access. He is admitted to the New Zealand bar and holds degrees in laws and political science from the University of Canterbury and a masters in public policy from New York University and University College London. He lives in Sydney with his wife and young son and regularly travels for work.
Requirements
As our Director Corporate Security, you'll bring the following:
- Extensive experience in corporate security, executive protection, and event security management. Ideally with a Law Enforcement or Military background.
- Strong collaboration, with an emphasis on proactively sharing context, developing trusted relationships, and building the capability of others.
- Ability to flex between strategy and tactics across the breadth of the role requirements.
- Proven ability to conduct risk and threat assessments (real world and online) and develop comprehensive security plans.
- Demonstrated experience in managing effective investments in technologies and services, vendor contracts, and financial reporting.
- Understanding and use of security technology, including tools and systems.
- Existing networks within law enforcement agencies and excellent relationship management skills with law enforcement, security service providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and implement security policies, vetting processes, and training programs.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear security briefings to senior leadership.
- Pragmatic and disciplined with the ability to remain calm and take control in high-threat situations.
- Physically fit, and with relevant professional certifications in security management or executive protection are preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/tactical medicine certified
