About the role
Gartner is looking for a Director, Software Engineering - Sales Systems to join the Sales Service and Corporate Engineering team. The Candidate will be responsible for leading the technical implementation and sharing best practices, supporting other technical leads and raising awareness of changes and developments within the salesforce domain, that could impact the work of other development teams.
What you will do
- Play a key leadership role for a program working to modernize Gartner's CRM technology to support critical sales processes, while sunsetting legacy systems.
- Work with business stakeholders to understand business priorities and direction.
- Define a strategy and roadmap for technology in support of the Gartner sales organization which both accounts for current challenges and future needs.
- Manage a set of Agile/Scrum development / technology implementation teams consisting of talented software engineers & business analysts across both the US and India as they develop & implement technology in support of the Gartner Sales organization.
- Collaborate closely with other Gartner IT centers of expertise to leverage best practices and shared capabilities such as our AWS & Azure based cloud infrastructures.
- Act as a strong model within the organization for what "good looks like" from a leadership perspective.
What you will need
- Strong IT leader with 8-10 years of experience in demonstrated experience in leading technology delivery teams in support of complex business functions.
Must have
- Strong technology skills in the area of sales technology (e.g., CRM/SFA, Lead Management, Sales Performance Management, CPQ, Customer Engagement, etc.).
- Prior experience in leading an implementation of Sales or Service Cloud is required.
- Working knowledge and ability to mentor team members on design, build, and deploy of various Salesforce technologies not limited to Lightning Web Components, Apex Programming, Apex Web Service, Platform Events, Security Model and others.
- Good understanding of custom web application development using Java, ReactJS and various AWS technologies.
- Strong understanding of sales processes, financial processes and the sales technology landscape from a lead to order management.
- Experience with B2B sales in a subscription-based enterprise environment.
- 10+ years of demonstrated experience in leading technology delivery teams in support of complex business functions
- Demonstrated ability to both define a technology strategy, work with business & technology stakeholders to sell the strategy, and implement the strategy in iterative phases.
- Strong leadership skills in the areas of communication / collaboration, organizational design, talent acquisition & development, and stakeholder management.
- Experience in building & leading Agile/Scrum development teams located in multiple geographies (including India).
- Experience in successfully working in an IT environment where some technology delivery is performed through centers of expertise, requiring a high degree of collaboration.
Good to have
- Salesforce.com Platform Developer Certification.
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment.
- Experience in data migration from Siebel to Salesforce using Data Loader, Cast Iron and Informatica ETL tool.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 121,600 USD - 186,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates. We also offer market leading benefit programs including generous PTO, a 401k match up to $7,200 per year, the opportunity to purchase company stock at a discount, and more.
