Job Description
It takes powerful technology to connect our brands and partners with an audience of hundreds of millions of people. Whether you’re looking to write mobile app code, engineer the servers behind our massive ad tech stacks, or develop algorithms to help us process trillions of data points a day, what you do here will have a huge impact on our business—and the world.
About our team:
When you impact millions of people every day, you become a large target for adversaries of all types within all layers of the stack. Our job is to keep our users safe and make Yahoo one of the safest places on the Internet.
We are the information security team at Yahoo, known as "The Paranoids".
As an analyst on the Platform Integrity Operations team within the Paranoids, you will be charged with detecting, neutralizing and preventing abuse – at scale – directly targeting Yahoo users and using Yahoo products. You will play a key role in defending millions of Yahoo users and ensuring we are doing everything in our power to keep them safe.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for an analyst who is passionate about helping others. You are excited about finding new and creative ways to detect online malicious activity and are driven to help as many people as possible. Your experience in the investigation and analysis of patterns of internet-based fraud and account takeover ensures that we identify and disrupt the most significant threats to our users.
You are an ideal candidate for our team if you value:
-
Protecting users and making the Internet a safer place for everyone.
-
Demonstrating a high level of curiosity and taking a proactive and innovative approach to preventing online abuse.
-
Standing up for our users and always doing what’s right.
In a typical day, you may find yourself:
-
Identifying and neutralizing – at scale – malicious activity targeting Yahoo users or using Yahoo products.
-
Analyzing and actioning intel from strategic internal partners and external parties.
-
Evolving threat detections to prevent attacks against Yahoo users and products.
-
Providing investigative support, including data mining and analytics, to various internal investigative and product teams.
-
Feeding insights to engineering and product teams to help improve the overall Yahoo user security experience.
Â
Qualifications:
-
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
-
Experience analyzing the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) of web-based fraud, including spam, email scams, phishing, malware and account takeover (ATO).
-
Experience with big data technologies such as Splunk, MySQL or Hadoop.
-
Excellent creative thinking, problem-solving, planning, time-management and organization skills to balance and prioritize work.
-
Strong communication skills and an ability to build relationships with cross-functional teams.
-
Comfortable performing in a remote-first environment
