Engineering Technician

This position has a Selective Placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The Selective Placement factor is: This position requires the ability to learn and willingness to work on all forms of high vacuum technology, including computer controlled cryo pump and GN2 thermal conditioning systems.

In addition to the Selective Placement Factor your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-01/04 grade level or NR-01 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Knowledge of basic safety rules and use of personal protective equipment (PPE); 2) Knowledge and practical experience in complex systems of fluid management, including cryogenic fluid, and mechanical pump systems; 3) Knowledge on how to use vacuum leak detection equipment; 4) Experience in pipe fitting and being able to build a plumbing system free of leaks including air, nitrogen, water and vacuum systems; 5) Knowledge of basic electrical equipment installation such as cable tray and junction box installation; 6) Knowledge in computer skills including Microsoft tools; 7) Skilled in use of all common powered and non-powered hand tools including basic shop tools; and 8) Ability to read, interpret and create technical documents, work instructions, procedures, assembly and manufacturing drawings to plan and execute installations.
