  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • All Army personnel will comply with safety regulations, occupational safety and health standards, and other safety directives and orders.
  • Incumbent of this position must be enrolled in the Hearing Conservation Program and must undergo pre-employment, annual, and pre-termination audiograms.
  • Work assignments involve working outside, standing, climbing, and walking through rugged terrain.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes 1) collecting topographic or hydrographic surveys in various environments and conditions; 2) verifying the accuracy of surveys; and 3) planning survey procedures.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level/position in the federal service (GS-08).

GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing hydrographic, topographic, geodetic, and UAS survey operations, methods, and techniques to process and analyze survey data; Creating scopes of work and technical reports, developing detailed resource and cost estimates, and presenting results verbally to the project delivery team; Assisting with data discrepancy resolution and ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Utilizing hydrographic, topographic, geodetic, and UAS survey operations, methods, and techniques to process and analyze survey data; Creating scopes of work and technical reports, developing detailed resource and cost estimates, and presenting results verbally to the project delivery team; Developing contractual documents for the award of Architect-Engineer contracts involved with the acquisition of survey data.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You may be eligible for non-competitive promotion to the target position upon meeting time-in-grade restrictions and the following requirements:(1) Incumbent demonstrates ability to perform at target grade level;(2) Higher level work exists at target grade level;(3) Increased responsibilities are assigned;(4) Supervisor recommends promotion;(5) Incumbent completes all required training and conditions of employment, and;(6) Incumbent completes all regulatory requirements for career ladder promotions.
